Laid Off and Laid Up

Hi friends! Sorry for my absence lately! I never meant to stay away for so long! I had planned on blogging more, but life always seems to get in the way. For instance, I was laid off last Monday! Yay for me! To add insult to injury I got a stomach bug on Saturday.

I fully expect to get back on my feet quickly. I'm not one to sit around and do nothing, and not working is making me a little crazy, although looking for a job is a full time job!

Over the holidays I nabbed this sweater at H&M in the men's section for $5! That's the kind of deal a jobless person looks for! Don't ever be afraid to shop in the men's section ladies! Sometimes you find some very useful items, and I don't just mean hats, and scarves, and socks, and beard combs!

I hope everyone is having a great 2016 so far! I'll keep you posted on my job hunt. Send me your good juju, and prayers, and love, and just for good measure; beard combs.

Hello Wall

We took these pictures next to a wall.

I'm having some serious writer's block right now. I swear I can think of a million things to write about during the day, but sometimes when I sit down to actually write a post I draw a huge blank. I wish I drew a huge bank instead. Then I could be rich! I don't know if it would actually work that way, but it's my imagination so I'm gonna go with it.

Do you guys daydream? I mean I do it a lot. Where would I like to visit? Where would I like to live? What if I were a Kardashian? I don't really want to be a Kardashian. I would be a terrible Kardashian in fact. I am not big on plastic surgery, and as big as my butt is, I'm not quite at the Dash level. This outfit is a little Kardashian though. A romper and tall boots... Not near enough lip or tan though.

In conclusion I would like to thank this wall. This wall made me look good. Or maybe I made this wall look good...Either way we made a pretty good team while these pics were being taken and I appreciate the effort it put in. Here's to you wall. Stand up straight! Believe in yourself. One day you might get to be a backdrop for someone much more famous than myself. Maybe a Kardashian!

Dogversations

I like to make up conversations that I would have with my dogs. They both have such big personalities and so I imagine what they would say and how our conversations would go. I decided to do a whole blog post dedicated to some of those conversations.

Oh and spoiler alert...I cut my hair off.

Me to my dogs: Why are you staring at me like that?
My dogs to me: We are judging you.
Me to my dogs: Judging me for what?
My dogs to me: For still being in your pjs...It's like 2:00.

Me: What is that?
My dogs: What is what?
Me: That thing in your mouth?
My dogs: Oh that! It's just our teeth...and cat poop.

My dogs: Pet us!
Me: I'm busy working right now!
My dogs: Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaasssseeeee pet us!!!!!
Me: Fine *reaches for them*
My dogs: *running away* TOO LATE! HAHAHAHA!!!!!

My dogs: Feed us.
Me: I fed you like an hour ago!
My dogs: But we are hungry again now. Feed us!
Me: No! It's like 10:00 AM!
My dogs: Food has no timetable.
Me: Fine. I'll give you a snack.
My dogs: YAAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAAYAYAAYAYAY OMG OMG!!!!! SNACK SNACK SNACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Five minutes later...

My dogs: Feed us...
Me: ...............

Teenage Dream

We took these pictures at Love Circle, a very well known "park" in Nashville where you can look down on the city. It's always seemed strange to us that it's such a high point, but from the city I never see it. It's like magic.

It's also a hideout for packs of wild teenagers...

We walked up the hill to find a group of teenagers in their most comfortable environment; a make out spot. We approached them slowly as to not spook them, but they did seem to be a bit frightened and scattered to the other side of the hill.

I wondered if we should try to feed them. I didn't see any "don't feed the teenagers" signs, but in the end I decided it was best to just try to ignore them.

Eventually one of them, presumably the pack leader, approached us slowly to ask if we had a cigarette. We politely, but a little sternly (cigarettes are bad, Mkay...) told him no and he quickly fled along with the rest of the pack.

We didn't know where they went until we heard the rattle of an old car and the squeals of the female pack members as they rolled down the hill. I think they'll be ok.

I highly recommend visiting this spot if you are ever in Nashville, but bring some McDonalds french fries because teenagers love those!

Green Water

I can't promise that this post will be even remotely coherent because I am high on Benadryl at the moment trying to combat the horrific war going on in my sinus cavity. It's not cool. Also not cool is the color of the water behind me.

That water is straight up dyed green. Why? Why would you dye water like that? It's so weird! What if a white duck goes into that water? They would come out with a green butt! I have never seen a green butted duck, but I can assure you if I do it's not natural and probably came from this pond.

Other than having horrible allergies, I have spent the week doing the following things:
  1. Wondering if you can get rabies from a pig.
  2. Eating Chic-Fil-A Salads so much that we actually got a special Chic-Fil-A-List card. (No that is not a joke. It is literally called the Chic-Fil-A-List.)
  3. Googling Pig Rabies
  4. Reading old notes from High School that my husband found in storage.
  5. Having a nose bleed and wondering if that is a symptom of pig rabies.
I might have overreacted to the pig bite just a little.

I also bought purple lipstick. It's MAC Heroine to be exact and I love it.

Can ducks get rabies?

Bumblebee Farts

The other day I was going into the Dollar General (I get fake nails there so cheap because I do my own at home) and in front of the door wanting in was a bee. It made me think of the movie "You've Got Mail" where she talks about a butterfly getting on and off the subway and possibly buying a hat at Bloomingdales (I think it was Bloomingdales, correct me if I'm wrong).

I think if a bee were to go shopping at the Dollar General he might be looking for some soda and honey buns. I'm almost positive that all that junk food would give him gas.

Maybe he also picked up some GasX. Maybe he was just browsing. I don't know him personally, but he seemed very gentlemanly as I let him in the store.

None of this has anything to do with what I'm wearing which is a groovy vintage sweater and high waisted jeans. When do I ever talk about what I'm wearing anyway?

If you see a bumblebee out and about in Nashville waiting for a door, follow him in and see what he buys. I'm curious about the GasX.

When I Was Arrested, I Was Dressed In Black

Let me clarify...I was not arrested.

I used to hate brown and black together. It was my least favorite thing in the world and I would criticize anyone who wore it. Now there are still some rules in my mind like no dark brown and black. That still bothers me. I know you are thinking, "But Heather, what shade of brown is too dark? Where do you draw the line?" Well little friend, I don't have a good answer to that because I am pretty wishy washy. I will however tell you that this shade of brown or "cognac" is beautiful with black. If you choose to wear a darker shade that is ok, but don't be surprised if I give you the side eye.

Not that I got that little diatribe out of the way we can move on.

I also want to say that leopard is a neutral and I will fight anyone who disagrees. Ok, I won't fight you, but I will write you a strongly worded letter. What do you think I want to do, get arrested?

Mammy

My momma came to visit me! We ate all the food and drank all the coffee and went all the places! It was wonderful! I needed a little happy in my week. She also took these pictures because she is awesome.

See my week started with a clogged drain in our bathroom which resulted in at least 3 trips to Home Depot, gross black goo in our floor, and a very defeated Little City Chic household. We finally got it unclogged, but we didn't know it until the next morning. That should have been good news, and it was, but then I realized that our mortgage company had taken out two payments. TWO PAYMENTS. That's not cool. When I called they weren't helpful, but thankfully my bank was and I got the second payment reversed. Talk about a frustrating couple of days. I could have shortened that and just said a black goo covered toilet monster came in and stole all our money, but you probably wouldn't have understood that. And you also might have been terrified.

My momma came and made things better (as mommas tend to do) and now I am happy again.

I promise I have a giveaway coming up. I also promise to not take as long to put up a new post next time. That is unless the goo covered toilet monster comes back and steals my computer, or camera, or husband...
