Cashes to Cashes

Yesterday the husband and I went to Hendersonville to the gravesite of Johnny and June Cash. We are both pretty nuts about Johnny Cash and the love story behind him and June, so this was a very cool experience.

Other than the fact that it was very wet and very cold, it was still one of the coolest things we've done/seen. And I might have cried a little. I don't want to talk about it.

After that we found the cutest little park on the river and stopped to feed the ducks and geese!

Now I am not typically a goose fan. They chase you and hiss and that is terrifying! It's one thing if a cat hisses at you because that is what they do, but a bird that hisses...That's what horror movies are made of! This goose was awesome though. I named him Turkey and he ate out of my hand and made me squeal like a 3 year old!

Things I was thinking while having the rest of these pictures taken:

  • It's cold.
  • If I lean back too far I will fall and bust my head open.
  • If I lean forward too far I might fall in.
  • There must be a ton of bird poop in this water.
  • Oh God there is a fountain and it blew on me! That's bird poop water I just inhaled!
  • It's cold.
Right about then I would have been happy to stand in a ring of fire.

When I Was Arrested, I Was Dressed In Black

Let me clarify...I was not arrested.

I used to hate brown and black together. It was my least favorite thing in the world and I would criticize anyone who wore it. Now there are still some rules in my mind like no dark brown and black. That still bothers me. I know you are thinking, "But Heather, what shade of brown is too dark? Where do you draw the line?" Well little friend, I don't have a good answer to that because I am pretty wishy washy. I will however tell you that this shade of brown or "cognac" is beautiful with black. If you choose to wear a darker shade that is ok, but don't be surprised if I give you the side eye.

Not that I got that little diatribe out of the way we can move on.

I also want to say that leopard is a neutral and I will fight anyone who disagrees. Ok, I won't fight you, but I will write you a strongly worded letter. What do you think I want to do, get arrested?

Honeysuckle Sugar Butt

Spring in Tennessee is the absolute best. It's warm, but not yet hotter than the fires of hell, and it's beautiful! You can eat on a patio or go for a jog and you aren't attacked by large stinging bugs, or small stinging bugs. I don't discriminate and neither do they when they want to stick me with their pokey death needle or suck my blood.

Soon it will be summer, which I love, but it does get very warm and very buggy. We are actually planning our vacation soon to Savannah, GA which is already very warm and most likely very buggy, but we love it there so much. I can't wait to see the beach, and do some blog pics while we are there. I also can't wait to eat all the food. All. The. Food.

We did some shopping this past weekend in preparation for the trip. Are we the only ones who shop specifically for vacation clothes? I mean we won't just wear them on vacation. It isn't like we will wear them once and then toss them into the sea yelling, "Be gone vacation clothes! We no longer like you or need you!" There is just something about getting a new dress or top to wear the first time on vacation. Maybe it's just me.

Well I better go because I have some clothes to throw in the lake.

Mammy

My momma came to visit me! We ate all the food and drank all the coffee and went all the places! It was wonderful! I needed a little happy in my week. She also took these pictures because she is awesome.

See my week started with a clogged drain in our bathroom which resulted in at least 3 trips to Home Depot, gross black goo in our floor, and a very defeated Little City Chic household. We finally got it unclogged, but we didn't know it until the next morning. That should have been good news, and it was, but then I realized that our mortgage company had taken out two payments. TWO PAYMENTS. That's not cool. When I called they weren't helpful, but thankfully my bank was and I got the second payment reversed. Talk about a frustrating couple of days. I could have shortened that and just said a black goo covered toilet monster came in and stole all our money, but you probably wouldn't have understood that. And you also might have been terrified.

My momma came and made things better (as mommas tend to do) and now I am happy again.

I promise I have a giveaway coming up. I also promise to not take as long to put up a new post next time. That is unless the goo covered toilet monster comes back and steals my computer, or camera, or husband...

Remixologist

I wore this two days in a row, because I love it. Haters gonna hate, hate, hate....

In my defense I only wore it for a couple of hours the first day. Not that I care what anyone thinks. I march to the beat of a different pot (and possibly a pan). I don't know if you recognize this dress/tunic thing I'm wearing, but I just wore it a couple of weeks ago in another post here. I love remixing things for different seasons or in our case just insanely varied temperatures within the same season.

We took these photos at a place that I have taken them before only on a different side, and the first person who can tell me which post has the other side in it, I will send you my favorite summer shade of nail polish. Seriously. I will literally go buy it and send it to you. Just tell me in the comments below.

Here's looking at you kid!

Night Moves

Just in case you couldn't tell, these were taken spontaneously at night with my iPhone by the light of my headlight. It was my husband's idea. He's pretty good with stuff like that. Keeps me on my toes with new and innovative ideas. He's like an innovation/idea...factory.... (I wanted to write tree right there for some reason, but it didn't make much sense.)

Do you know what I like? Elephants. They are so big and cool. They have those big ol ears and trunks that are just like, BAM! Yeah! I'm an elephant! Whatcha gonna do about it? But at the same time they are just sweet and they like to dance.

I also just realized my shirt has that cool elephant guy on it! I told you I like elephants! I don't just blow smoke, or pull legs, or some other 50's sounding phrase.

Pug is the New Black

Last week was a busy week. Work was busy. Home was busy (mostly because we binge watched Orange is the New Black...Obsessed!). We are watching a very special little pup named Lilly for a couple of weeks and she keeps us busy. I love staying a little busy though.

Lilly is a pug and she belongs to my bestie, Sherri. She snorts all the time and I love it until she is all snortin along and blows a bunch of wet all over your face. It is not good when that happens, but we still love her.

While adding these photos I just realized I am missing one that I know I edited. I have no idea what I did with it though. Also when I just typed that last though, I missed a letter and it autocorrected it to thug. Made me giggle. Not sure why.

I have a whole other post that will be dedicated to the location (or at least a place that is near this location) that we took these photos. I got very excited when I realized that my nails matched the paint splatter outside this building almost perfectly. My job allows me to paint my nails crazy colors and show my tattoos (well some of them) most of the time and I love it. I wasn't allowed that privilege for over a year and it is amazing how draining it can be to not be able to express yourself. Maybe that's all Lilly is trying to do when she snots all over my face. She is just expressing her puggy self and I should let her be. I should also get her a tissue.
